14th Annual Mid-America Lenders Conference
San Antonio, TX

Q:  What can I expect in the way of workshops and topics?

A:  This is not exactly the same as “training” although it is designed to bring you a greater understanding of topics to aid you as a commercial lender.  Many workshops are pertinent to all types of commercial lending, not just SBA loans.  Others are designed to bring you the latest on changes to SBA programs and the requirements for servicing and liquidating SBA loans, as well as how to request the SBA to honor its guaranty in the event of a deficiency balance.  Our website will be continually updated as new topics and/or workshops are added.

Even more importantly – we want your input.  See the “Contact Us” button and send us your ideas.  We may not be able to honor every request but we will try to add those that seem to be common among responders to the line-up.  It would be helpful if you would also include a possible workshop presenter, if you have one in mind.

Q:  How many attend the conference and where do they come from?

A:  This conference attracts lenders and service-providers from all over the nation.  With lenders able to provide loans in any district without having to register in each one, this practice is increasing – they will come from New Jersey to Denver to California.  The core states in Region VI are Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas.  But SBA Districts and Regional Staff from Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Mississippi are invited and we hope they bring many of their lenders as well.  This conference was the first of its kind and is the longest running.  Other Regions are beginning to develop their own.  We certainly hope they do – it is a good way to continue to improve our products, and have input into that process.
